MADRID, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Seven-time world Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher will be moving to live in the Spanish island of Mallorca, it has been confirmed by authorities on the island.
Katia Rouarch, the mayor of the town of Andratx in the west of the island, told the Swiss magazine 'L'Illustre' that preparations had been made to welcome Schumacher to a 30 million euro mansion formally owned by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
"I can officially confirm Michael Schumacher will move in to our municipality and that everything is set up here to welcome him," she said.
It is not known when Schumacher will arrive on the island where he used to spend his summer holidays, or for how long he will stay there.
Schumacher's new home is reported to have two swimming pools, a helipad, a gym and 15,000 square meters of land, which make it impossible for either locals or the press to view what is happening inside.
The former F1 champion has not been seen in public since suffering serious head injuries, including blood clots on the brain, while skiing in France in December 2013 and has been cared for at his home in Switzerland since September 2014.
