KAMPALA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's 1,500m runner Ronald Musagala has been selected to be part of Africa's team at the 2018 IAAF Continental Cup.
The world event which will bring together athletes from all continents will take place on Sept. 8-9 in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.
"We are glad that after winning a bronze medal in the 1,500m race at the just-ended Africa Senior Championship in Nigeria, Musagala has been selected to be on the team for Africa," Dominic Otuchet, the president of the Uganda Athletics Federation, told Xinhua on Thursday.
Otuchet said Musagala is part of the team of 74 athletes named by the Confederation of Africa Athletics on Tuesday.
Kenya, which topped the Africa Senior Championships tally, will be represented by nine athletes, while South Africa has the highest number of 20.
Furthermore, athletes from Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Swaziland and Djibouti are among those selected.
The Continental Cup is held every four years since 2010, replacing the previous Athletics World Cup and involving teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Enditem
