RIYADH, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian Health Ministry has confirmed that the current Hajj season is so far free of epidemic and quarantine diseases among pilgrims, Akhbariya local TV reported on Friday.
The Hajj rituals to take place next week is managed with tight security and health measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
The ministry confirmed that the health situation is reassuring. It highlighted earlier that it prioritized the health of pilgrims, and followed up on the development and changes in the global health situation in cooperation with the World Health Organization and other international health bodies.
Besides adopting serious measures to prevent the spread of contagious diseases, the ministry announced on Thursday that it has conducted in Mecca and Medina hospitals 181 cardiac catheterizations, 10 open heart surgeries, 1049 dialysis and 452 different other surgeries for pilgrims.
