PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Beach volleyball competition will kick off on Sunday at the 2018 Asian Games with China's men's team drawn in the group against 2014 champion Kazakhstan.
China has sent four pairs to compete in the men's and women's events in Indonesia's Palembang Asian Games sports complex in Jakabaring.
China's women's team won the gold medal in 2014, with another pair placing third after they trashed a Thai duo, while China's men's teams placed second and third.
At the 2018 Asiad, the men's teams will compete in eight groups, while the women's teams are divided into four groups.
Indonesia expects its men's teams to win the gold as the hosts have entered two pairs in both men's and women's events.
"[It] doesn't matter which pairing would get the gold medal. They are all confident ahead of the qualifying round," said Indonesian men's beach volleyball coach Koko Prasetyo.
