RIYADH, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Health Ministry announced on Monday that the Hajj season has not registered any epidemic case so far, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Health Minister Tawfiq Al Rabiah said that the preparation of the current Hajj season started at the end of the previous one and expressed hopes that the season would be over without registering any case.
He highlighted the cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) to learn about epidemic diseases that the ministry needs to be cautious with and vaccination that pilgrims should take before coming to perform Hajj.
He revealed that WHO representatives are in Mecca to learn important tips about crowd management.
The ministry has assigned more than 1,750 individuals to carry out health screening for pilgrims at all ports.
Meanwhile, the General Authority for Statistics announced on Monday that the total number of pilgrims from inside and outside of the kingdom reached 2,368,873. The final number of people who perform Hajj this year would be announced later.
