HAVANA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Cuba on Tuesday finalized its plans ahead of the 22nd Pan-American Bartenders Championship, in which a new Guiness World Record will be attempted.
During the championship, to be held in Havana's Habana Libre Hotel from Aug. 26 to 31, organizers hope to mix the world's largest ever Cuba Libre cocktail, also known as a rum and coke.
Cuba's iconic rum brand, Havana Club, will be used to create the 550 liter cocktail.
President of the Cuban Association of Bartenders, Jose Rafa Malen, told the press that bartenders from 18 nations will be participating.
Bartenders can compete in six different categories during the championship, in which their abilities will be demonstrated.
Cuba has a long history in bartending and was the first country in the world to have a professional bartending club founded in 1924.
