COLOMBO, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Vietnam on Saturday to attend an Indian Ocean conference which is scheduled to be held in Hanoi on Aug. 27-28, the Prime Minister's Office said.
The 3rd conference, themed "Building Regional architectures," is expected to promote strategic cooperation and trade ties between regional countries, consolidate security frameworks and administrative processes, and contribute to regional peace, stability, development and connectivity.
The two-day conference will draw 250 attendees from 43 countries and territories.
Wickremesinghe is scheduled to address the inaugural session on Aug 27.
The prime minister was accompanied by Sri Lanka's Minister of Youth Affairs, Project Management and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake.
