FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants abducted a government official in Nasai district of the northern Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Sanaullah Rohani said on Sunday.
A group of militants, according to the official, raided Zaghar valley of Nasai district on Saturday and kidnapped district prosecutor Ahmad Khan and took him to an unknown location.
However, reinforcement had been sent from the neighboring Shakai and Maimai districts to the area to ensure the safe release of the official, the spokesman said.
Taliban militants who are in control of parts of Badakhshan province haven't commented yet.
