NEW YORK, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev from Germany advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open men's singles for the first time here on Thursday, beating Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round.
It was the fourth try for the 21-year-old Zverev at U.S. Open.
Zverev said he was happy and the U.S. Open is a grand slam in which he's struggled.
