BEIRUT, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri said on Friday that the government formation will take place soon despite all difficulties, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
"New members have joined the parliament during the last parliamentary elections and the shares of political parties have changed," Hariri was quoted by the NNA as saying.
Hariri has been trying in vain to form a 30-member national unity government for the past three months, because of rifts among rival politicians over the representation of the main Christian parties and Druze sect.
"I am very optimistic that we will see positive progress in the coming few weeks with regard to the government formation," he said.
Meanwhile, sources close to Hariri told MTV, a local TV channel, that the prime minister-designate is expected to submit a new proposal for the government formation.
