NEW DELHI, Sept 1 (Xinhua) -- At least seven persons died and many injured in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu early on Saturday morning when a bus travelling in rammed into another coming from the other direction, said local media reports.
The accident occurred near the state's Salem area, when the bus driver while trying to overtake another vehicle hit a road-divider and rammed into the other bus.
Among the dead were two women. Media photographs showed both the buses were badly damaged.
There were more than 30 passengers in the ill-fated bus at the time of the accident, added the reports.
The bus in which the casualties occurred was going towards Tiruvalla from Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka state, while the other bus was moving from Salem towards Krishnagiri area, stated the media reports.
Those injured have been admitted into nearby hospitals.
