KAMPALA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has named an eleven-man team that will take part in the 2018 World Mountain Running Championship slated for Sept. 13-17 in Canillo, Andorra.
Head coach Nathan Mujongola told Xinhua on Tuesday that they have picked a team that will win medals.
"We are confident that the seven men and four women will represent the country well," Mujongola said.
Jacob Kiplimo, who won a silver medal in the 10,000m race at the 2018 IAAF World Junior Championship in Finland will lead Uganda's team together with Joel Ayeko.
"We are happy that we have managed to get resources together to send a team of 11 runners. The Federation is confident that this team which has been training hard will perform well," Dominic Otuchet, president of the Uganda Athletics Federation told Xinhua.
Last year Uganda dominated the World Mountain Running Championship in Italy, winning the men's senior race, the women's and men's junior races.
Uganda's team includes Jacob Kiplimo, Joel Ayeko, Victor Kiplagat, and Robert Chemonges in the men's senior category.
The junior men's category includes Matthew Chepkurui, Dan Chebet and Oscar Chelimo.
The junior women's category includes Risper Chebet, Esther Yego Chemkwemoi and Betty Chebet.
Patricia Chemkwemoi is in the senior women's category. Enditem
