BEIJING, Sept.7 (Xinhua) -- Asia-Pacific airlines have seen a 7.5 percent air passenger year-on-year growth in July, said the latest statistics of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The growth in the region is being supported by a combination of robust regional economic growth and an increase in route options for travelers, said IATA.
Dubbed one of the major "engines" of the global civil aviation market, the Asia-Pacific saw the regional air passenger traffic capacity increase 6 percent in July compared with the same period last year.
IATA announced that the global civil aviation industry has seen a healthy global passenger demand in July with all regions reporting growth.
Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region carried the largest number of passengers among all regions in the world. In 2017, the region contributed 36.3 percent of air passengers in global civil aviation market.
