JAKARTA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Youth and Sport Ministry has set a 16 gold medal target during the forthcoming Asian Para Games scheduled to be held later this year in the country, a minister disclosed.
Indonesian Youth and Sport Ministry Imam Nahrawi refreshed the country's target to post at least the seventh place during the multi-sport event for those with disability from the previous expectation of the fifth place.
"We hope there will be improvement of achievement. Our position to be the seventh place or a higher position during the Games," he said.
The minister asserted that the target is better than the rank achieved by the country's contingent in the last Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea in 2014
For the upcoming Asian Para Games, Indonesian athletes are scheduled to compete in all 18 sports to be staged, according to the minister.
The Asian Para Games is scheduled to be played from October 6 to 13 in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta.
Indonesia secured nine golds, 11 silvers and 18 bronzes during the late Asian Para Games in 2014.
As many as 2,800 athletes and 1,800 officials from 41 countries and regions will participate in the Asian Para Games 2018 in Indonesia, according to the Youth and Sport Ministry.
Host Indonesia will stage as many as 18 sports, among them badminton, basketball, table tennis, swimming, chess, cycling, fencing and others, it revealed.
The Asian Para Games was first held in Guangzhou of China in 2010 and then in 2014 in South Korea.
