TOKYO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as semiconductor issues lost ground following their counterparts retreating on Wall Street overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 60.08 points, or 0.27 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 22,604.61.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.59 points, or 0.45 percent, to finish at 1,691.32
Electric appliance, machinery and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
