TOKYO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday on reports that the U.S. might propose a fresh round of high-level talks with China regarding ongoing tariff issues.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 208.09 points, or 0.92 percent, from Wednesday to 22,812.70.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 17.41 points, or 1.03 percent, at 1,708.73.
Mining, rubber product, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised notable gainers in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
