TIANJIN, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday called for enhanced discussions among all parties on problems facing the global economy so that common development and prosperity can be promoted.
Li made the remarks when he met with Klaus Schwab, World Economic Forum (WEF) founder and executive chair, in north China's Tianjin Municipality during the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2018, also known as the Summer Davos Forum.
Li said that China's cooperation with the WEF has not only provided a platform for communication between Chinese and foreign business circles but also opened a window for the world to better understand China.
He said China is willing to work with the WEF and all parties to jointly discuss the problems facing the global economy and promote the continuous improvement of the global governance system, for common development and prosperity.
"Facing opportunities and challenges arising from the new round of industrial revolution and technological innovation, all sides should join hands to promote sustainable and inclusive growth of the global economy, jointly safeguard multilateralism and free trade, and create a sound macro environment for world economic recovery and stable growth," Li said.
For his part, Schwab said this year's forum will be the largest so far, which fully reflects the high importance attached by all parties to the annual event.
The WEF stands ready to enhance cooperation with the Chinese side, support globalization and multilateralism and promote a rule-based global governance structure, Schwab said.
