GUANGZHOU, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- No. 3 seed Wang Qiang of China claimed her second WTA title here on Saturday, defeating No. 5 seed Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan, 6-1, 6-2.
Wang is enjoying a golden period in her career as she won the Jiangxi Open in July and Asian Games women's singles title in August.
"I felt so happy to win the tournament, I think it's a big thing for me in China with many of my friends here," Wang said after the match.
Wang dominated the match as she struck 25 winners to just 16 unforced errors and saved all three break points she faced.
The 26-year-old is now the new Chinese No. 1 as the victory will put her at a new career-high ranking and well inside the world's Top 40.
In the doubles final, Monique Adamczak and Jessica Moore from Australia won their first WTA title as a team with a 4-6, 7-5, 10-4 victory over Danka Kovinic from Montenegro and Vera Lapko from Belarus.
