BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- A foreign fishing vessel conducting illegal fishing activities in Brunei waters about 130 nautical miles from the coast of Brunei was apprehended by the Royal Brunei Navy, the country's Ministry of Defense said on Friday.
According to a press release on its website, the ministry said that a total of four foreign fishermen including the owner of the boat were found onboard the trawler.
The trawler and the fishermen were then escorted and handed over to the Marine Police Royal Brunei Police Force, in the presence of a representative from the Fisheries Department.
This is the second foreign fishing vessel apprehended by the navy this year, the first being in May, when 37 Vietnamese men, aged 18 to 52, were found conducting illegal fishing on a Vietnam-registered vessel within Brunei waters.
