MINSK, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- A customs clearance office was opened on Monday in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on the initiative of the ZAO China Merchants CHN-BLR Commerce & Logistics Company.
The customs clearance office has a temporary storage warehouse and a customs warehouse. Each occupies 5,000 square meters, with the possibility for expansion.
Cui Qiming, Chinese ambassador to Belarus, said the opening of the customs office is an important achievement in China-Belarus bilateral business cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The diplomat said that cooperation between China and Belarus will make an important contribution to the construction of a large logistics corridor as part of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
Viktor Sheiman, head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, said that as many as 125 semi-trailer trucks will be able to enter the customs control area simultaneously.
The office intends to clear at least 20,000 vehicles a year, he said.
