BELGRADE, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) defeated Ulm from Germany 88-75 in Group A of this year's Eurocup basketball tournament here on Tuesday evening.
The Serbian champions broke the deadlock in the final quarter where they outscored their first group opponents 26-14.
At the Aleksandar Nikolic hall, the German third-ranked Ulm took an initial 11-5 lead before Billy Baron helped the home team catch up and even overtook the lead 28-21 through 3-pointers.
Although Baron and Joe Ragland continued to score for Red Star, the visitors managed to cut the lead to just three before the halftime.
In the third quarter, Red Star managed to build a double-digit lead but lost it again, leaving the outcome of the match in balance till the last quarter.
It was center Michael Ojo who made the difference for the Red Star in the final quarter, who finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Baron scored the game-high 19 points, Ragland added 17 and Stratos Perperoglou made 14 for Red Star, while Isaac Fotu scored 16 points for Ulm, with 11 from Katin Reinhardt, and 10 apiece from Dwayne Evans and Javonte Green.
Red Star will play Monaco in France on Oct. 10, when Galatasaray host Ulm in Istanbul.
