VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- A 6.7-magnitude earthquake Thursday rocked the northern Kuril Islands, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) said in a statement.
The epicenter of tremor was located at the coordinates of 49.2 degrees north latitude and 156.8 east longitude. It is 150 km east of the uninhabited island of Onekotan. The depth of the hypocenter is 74 km, the statement said.
The earthquake occurred at 10:16 local time (1216 GMT). There were no damage or casualties reported following the tremor.
