KIEV, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine plans to build 15 modern ammunition depots, which are protected against manmade incidents, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko tweeted on Thursday.
The new ammo warehouses will be equipped with automatic systems of security, alarm and fire protection, Poroshenko said.
On Tuesday, a fire started at an ammunition depot, which lies near the town of Ichnya, about 170 km east of Kiev, triggering a subsequent massive detonation of the ammunition.
The Ukrainian authorities are investigating whether sabotage is a possible cause of the blaze.
Efforts to extinguish the fire at the depot which contained about 69,500 tons of ammunition are still underway.
