BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's Facundo Diaz Acosta made amends for his disappointment in the tennis singles final by teaming with compatriot Sebastian Baez to win the boys' doubles gold meal at the Youth Olympics on Sunday.
Diaz Acosta and Baez defeated Bulgaria's Adrian Andreev and Australia's Rinky Hijikata 6-4, 6-4 in front of a jubilant crowd at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
"Everyone wanted the same thing as we did, and that was beautiful," world junior No. 2 Baez said of the support from the stands. "It's much more enjoyable when you're playing at home."
Diaz Acosta added: "When I heard the Argentine anthem and saw the flag rise, I got goosebumps. It was something indescribable, and especially with everyone singing it."
The result came less than 24 hours after Diaz Acosta took silver in the boys' singles tournament after a 6-4, 7-5 loss to France's Hugo Gaston in the final.
Sunday's match was the last appearance for both Diaz Acosta and Baez at a junior international multi-sport event.
"It was three years of pure effort and this is the absolute best way to say goodbye," said Diaz Acosta, currently ranked 13th on the world junior circuit.
