BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- After winning the men's beach volleyball gold at the Buenos Aires Youth Olympics on Wednesday, the Swedish pair David Ahman and Jonathan Hellvig said the key to success is that they can learn from mistakes.
The pair overcame Dutch duo Yorick de Groot and Matthew Immers 2-0 (22-20, 21-15) in 30 minutes in the final. "We had no expectations of all this before coming here," Ahman said.
"We started our tournament off with a loss to Germany, then after that there were only wins. We even beat the Germans in the quarterfinal. That's when we understood that we could win something nice, because we learned from our mistakes."
His teammate Hellvig also thanked the fans in Buenos Aires for their support. "It feels a bit weird to be shouted at by so many girls in the stands who want us to wave our hands to them and take selfies. We're not really used to that," Hellvig said.
