SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Three militants were killed Friday in a gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir, officials said.
The gunfight broke out in Rampur area of Uri in the frontier Baramulla district, about 105 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, according to Indian army spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia.
The operation was underway in the area.
LoC is a de facto border that divides Kashmir into India and Pakistan controlled parts.
A guerilla war is going on between militants and Indian troops stationed in Indian-controlled Kashmir since 1989. The gunfight between the two sides takes place intermittently across the region.
