TIRANA, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A heroin lab was discovered Friday by police in Brenog village of Has region, northeast Albania.

According to the local media, the police seized a considerable amount of opium material and raw material for heroin production, and arrested 5 persons within the facility.

It is suspected that the lab belongs to a strong drug trafficking line that has been operating for years from Albania to European Union (EU) countries.

The police operation is the result of a few months' investigation. Searches are currently undergoing for the arrest of other persons involved in the criminal activity.
