SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Three militants and a civilian were killed Sunday in a fierce gunfight and blast at a village in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
The gunfight erupted in village Laroo of Kulgam district, 78 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
"In a gunfight that broke out here today at Laroo, three militants were killed," a police official posted in Kulgam said. "While fighting these militants two troopers were also wounded."
The identity of the slain militants was being ascertained.
Police said the village was cordoned off early Sunday following specific intelligence information suggesting presence of militants.
The house from where militants were firing on police and army positions has been damaged completely, eyewitnesses said.
A civilian was also killed and several others wounded at the spot, locals said.
According to a police spokesman, the civilian was killed after an explosive device went off.
