NANCHANG, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 721 tents pitched along a sky-high walkway on a mountain in east China's Jiangxi Province set a new Guinness World Record for the longest line of tents on Sunday afternoon.
The tent line spanned 1,482.44 meters on the slopes of Wugong Mountain, which has an elevation of 1,600 meters and is located in the city of Pingxiang.
The Wugong Mountain tourist site opened a 3,000-meter-long sky-high walkway, which includes a 300-meter-long glass section, to the public in September.
Over 200 volunteers took part in the two-day challenge, said organizing staff member Han Lan.
Volunteers brought hundreds of tents to the hillside walkway Saturday afternoon and battled wind and rain to set them up, said Xiao Qiang, a volunteer from the Wugong Mountain Outdoor Sports Association.
Guinness certification officers counted the tents on Sunday and announced that the line had broken the record for the world's longest line of tents, said Han.
