DOHA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Qatar and Oman will boost cooperation in education and scientific research, said a report of the state-run Qatar News Agency on Monday.
The decision was made during a meeting attended by Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed al Hammadi and Oman's Minister of Education Madiha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah.
Last June, Qatar and Oman signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost cooperation in the education and science fields.
The agreement included training of researchers and joint organization of exhibitions, seminars and scientific forums.
In Qatar crisis, Oman appears as neutral and tries to mediate. Oman has opened its ports to Qatari ships after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, citing Doha's interference in their domestic affairs and support of extremism and terrorism. But the tiny oil-rich Gulf nation has denied the charges.
