HELSINKI, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Brannon Cho from the United States emerged as the winner in the sixth Paolo Cello Competition 2018 on Thursday night in Helsinki, the capital city of Finland.
Considered one of the leading cello competitions in the world, the event attracted 80 applications, among whom 25 participants were selected. The winner got 22,000-euro (25,000 U.S. dollars) prize.
The second place was shared by Zlatomir Fung (USA) and Minji Kim (the Republic of Korea). The third position was not given. The audience popularity contest was won by Leonardo Chiodo from Finland.
The competition's name comes from Reko and Hulda Paulo, who were owners of a famous restaurant in Helsinki. Paolo Foundation was established in 1966.
