BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The eighth Beijing Xiangshan Forum concluded in Beijing Friday.
Through days of discussion, the theme, "Building a new type of security partnership of equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation" has become a consensus of delegates at the forum.
"Only through adhering to equality and mutual trust, dialogue and cooperation, seeking common ground and reconciling differences, as well as accomplishing sustainable security via common development, can win-win, multi-win and all-win get fulfilled," said Chen Guangjun, chairman of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies. "Going ahead with the company of countries around the world and taking care of the peace of the world are always an original aspiration of China."
During the forum, delegates carried out frank and thorough interactions concerning topics including "international security governance: new ideas and approaches," "global terrorism: threats and countermeasures," "maritime security cooperation: reality and vision" and "UN peacekeeping: challenges and cooperation."
"I love China. It is a country of much history and friendly people," Shaun Fogarty, director of strategic engagements with the New Zealand Defense Force, told Xinhua. "The forum has over the years become bigger and bigger, and the wide participation shows it is an important dialogue held with respect."
Liu Lin, associate research fellow with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Academy of Military Science, said: "Delegates raised many innovative thoughts and ideas, and have reached consensus on the importance of strengthening strategic communication, enhancing security mutual trust and promoting pragmatic cooperation."
"This fully demonstrates the ideas of 'equality, openness, inclusiveness, and mutual learning' at the forum."
