YANGON, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has formed a 29-member press council to lead in media development, according to a notification of the President's Office issued late Tuesday.
Established in accordance with Myanmar News Media Law, the Myanmar Press Council is chaired by Hanthawady U Ohn Kyaing and the secretary goes to U Kyaw Swar Min.
A senior official with the Myanmar information ministry has called for developing right to obtain information during the transition period to democracy and raise the image of the country on the international stage amid challenges.
The ministry has also been cooperating with both local and international organizations in development of local media sector.
Supported by the ministry, Myanmar media circle held its 5th Myanmar Media Development Conference in November 2016. Enditem
