NEW DELHI, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- A 53-year-old fashion designer and her 50-year-old domestic help were found murdered Thursday inside her home in India's capital city New Delhi, police said.
The double murder took place at the designer's residence at New Delhi's Vasant Kunj Enclave area.
The designer has been identified as Mala Lakhani.
"The two were stabbed with knives late last night," a police official said. "The woman, Maya Lakhani, was found dead in her bedroom and the body of the servant was found in the living room."
Police officials said seven injury marks were found on Lakhani's body.
According to police three people were arrested in connection with the murder.
"One of the accused Rahul Anwar was a tailor at the fashion designer's workshop. He committed the crime with two of his relatives in an attempt to loot," a senior police officer Ajay Chaudhary told media.
Reports said the trio themselves walked into the police station Thursday and confessed to the crime.
Lakhani used to run a boutique in Green Park in New Delhi. Enditem
