RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao scored one goal and set up another as Internacional kept alive their Brazilian Serie A title hopes with a 2-0 victory over America Mineiro on Thursday.
Damiao netted his 10th goal of the season in the 24th minute before setting up Edenilson with a defense-splitting through ball on the stroke of halftime.
The result at Estadio Beira-Rio left Internacional just five points behind leaders Palmeiras with four matches remaining.
In Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo also kept alive their faint hopes of a first Serie A title since 2009 by beating Santos 1-0. Henrique Dourado broke the deadlock with a 73rd-minute strike at the Maracana Stadium.
In other matches, Botafogo won 1-0 at Chapecoense and Sao Paulo were held to a 1-1 home draw by Gremio.
