BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- China has issued a plan to enhance technological support for the protection of cultural relics and archaeological works.
The plan, jointly issued by the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasized strengthening the safety oversight of ancient cultural relics, tombs, grottoes and other archaeological sites.
It also calls for more efforts on the development of appropriate technologies such as fire protection for cultural-relic buildings.
"To carry out archaeological works including the research, protection, exhibition and utilization of cultural relics, we need to be well-equipped," said an official with the National Cultural Heritage Administration. "The plan provides a valuable opportunity for China to develop archaeological equipment of high quality."
