ISLAMABAD, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said on Monday that it has arrested seven human smugglers in the country's eastern Faisalabad district.
According to an official from the FIA, the personnel of the agency detained the seven suspects from different areas of the district during raids at their hideouts early Monday morning after receiving tip-offs.
The official said the detained were involved in defrauding people by getting money on pretext of sending them abroad.
A number of passports, fake visa copies, different illegal documents and cash were recovered from their possessions.
The FIA has shifted them to some unknown locations for further investigation. They will be presented before a magistrate later in the day.
Over three dozen human smugglers have been arrested from Faisalabad district since the start of this year, local media reported.
On Nov. 19, the FIA detained 11 persons involved in the illegal practice of fleecing innocent citizens by promising to send them to Europe.
