NAIROBI, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Stella Barsosio has warned her critics not to rule her out as she seeks her first marathon win in four attempts this year in Singapore on Sunday.
Barsosio, who made her debut in marathon in 2014 clinching the bronze medal in Zagreb, will be running her fourth race this year, a step down from the five she contested in 2016 in Eastern Europe winning four of them.
"I like pushing my body and one month is enough for one to recover. I last raced in Frankfurt, Germany in October and finished ninth but I always want to win whenever I enter a race."
"In Singapore it will be hot and humid and I have run in similar conditions. My training has also been in similar weather and I hope to do well and end the jinx," she said Friday in Nairobi.
Kenyans Stella Barsosio (2:23:43) and Agnes Kiprop (2:23:54) are the fastest entrants for the women's race with Belarus' Nastassia Ivanova (2:27:24) and Moldova's Lilia Fisikovici (2:28:26) leading the European interest.
This year apart from Frankfurt, Barsosio has competed in Paris finishing fifth in a race won by compatriot Betsy Saina. She clocked 2:23:43 while in March she failed to finish the Nagoya women's marathon.
"I had injury concerns from Nagoya and it affected my performance in Paris. But I have since recovered and ready for the challenge in Singapore. There are several big names in the race, but I have trust in my strength to carry the day and continue Kenya's domination in the race," she added.
