ISLAMABAD, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were injured and several others trapped under debris after a roof collapsed in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province on Monday, local media reported.
According to local Urdu TV channel Abb Takk News, the roof of a house where a huge number of people were present due to a funeral suddenly caved in, burying dozens of people including women and children under the debris.
Following the incident, police and rescue teams reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The rescuers pulled the injured persons from the debris and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The rescue operation is underway to recover other trapped people, according to local media.
Police said that the incident occurred due to the dilapidated condition of the house.
