RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Former Brazil international center-back Rever has returned to his former club Atletico Mineiro after parting ways with Rio de Janeiro giants Flamengo.
The 33-year-old signed a three-year contract on Thursday after Atletico agreed to pay an undisclosed transfer fee.
"I'm very grateful to Atletico and the club's board, who showed interest in having me back," Rever said in comments published on the Belo Horizonte club's website.
"I hope to repay them with my performances on the pitch and lots of trophies," added the defender, who has been capped nine times for Brazil's national team.
Rever made 177 appearances for Atletico during his first spell at the club from 2010 to 2014 and was a part of the team that won the 2013 Copa Libertadores -- South America's top club trophy.
