RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Former Gremio striker Lucas Barrios has revealed he is in talks to return to Brazil after parting ways with Chile's Colo-Colo.
The 34-year-old Paraguay international said he is considering several offers from Brazilian top-flight clubs, without revealing their identity.
"I have great affection for Brazil and there are a lot of clubs calling me," the Globo newspaper quoted Barrios as saying on Friday. "Everything will soon be finalized and I will return to Brazil."
Barrios has endured a frustrating 12 months since departing Brazilian giants Gremio following their 2017 Copa Libertadores triumph.
A brief spell at Argentinos Juniors was followed by a stint with Colo-Colo, with whom he managed just three league goals in 14 appearances.
He said his aim for 2019 is to play regular first-team football and earn a place in Paraguay's squad for the Copa America, which will be played in Brazil from June 14 to July 7.
Argentine-born Barrios has been capped 34 times for Paraguay's national team, scoring 10 goals.
