JAKARTA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's U-22 national football team has set a target of qualifying for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championship in 2020, the Indonesian Football Association said here on Friday.
Thus, secretary general of the association Ratu Tisha said the team would make the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) 2019 Championship as a warm-up for the AFC U-23 qualification.
"We will use the AFF Cup 2019 as a gauge to measure the result of works of coach and boost motivation of the football players," she said.
Tisha said that all stakeholders will give best support to achieve the goal, including providing facilities and information needed.
Coach Indra Safri said that a total of 40 players will be summoned for the selection for the U-22 team.
"We will conduct a tryout match in February as parts of efforts to select players," he said.
