KAMPALA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan Premier League top sides Vipers SC and KCCA FC have stepped up preparations ahead of tricky Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup ties this weekend.

Vipers SC will host Tunisian giants Club Sportive Sfaxien on Saturday, while KCCA FC travel to battle Congo Brazzaville's AS Otoho d'Oyo on Sunday in the pre-group stage.

Vipers SC lost to Algeria's CS Constantine in the CAF Champions League and dropped to the second tier competition. KCCA FC humbled Tanzania's Mtibwa Sugar FC to make it to this stage.

"We have stepped up preparations ahead of the game against the Tunisian side. We shall need to work hard because it will be very important to get a comfortable win before we travel for the return leg," Vipers SC's new Kenyan coach Michael Ouma told Xinhua late on Wednesday.

Daniel Sserunkuma, the Vipers SC's lead striker, said that they need to take advantage of playing at home first. "We need to work hard as a team and win at home," he said.

Vipers SC, who sacked Mexican tactician Javier Martinez Espinosa late last month, picked up a morale boosting 3-0 win against Onduparaka FC on Tuesday in a Uganda Premier League match.

KCCA FC, who completed the first round of the Uganda Premier League top of the log on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over URA FC, are are also raring to go.

"In the last two years we have reached the Group stage of the Confederations Cup and Champions League and the pressure remains with us to impress again this year. Our target remains to make it to the group stage and this means we must eliminate the teams from Congo Brazzaville," said KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi.
