TIANJIN, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Super League (CSL) side Tianjin Quanjian football club has been renamed Tianjin Tianhai football club, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced on Monday.
The club had been affiliated with Quanjian Nature Medicine Technology Development, a Tianjin-based health product company, which was placed under investigation for pyramid selling and false advertising on January 1.
Local authorities announced on January 13 that 16 suspects from Quanjian stood accused of organizing and leading the scheme.
The CFA also announced that two other football clubs in the Chinese league system had also been renamed. Second tier club Meixian Tiehan was renamed Guangdong South China Tiger and third tier club Baotou Nanjiao is changed to Inner Mongolia Grass Tracker.
