YAOUNDE, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- About 20 people, including children, were killed in a road accident Wednesday afternoon on the Ngaoundere-Touboro highway in northern Cameroon, according to local authorities.
Witnesses said the accident happened when a truck collided head-on with a bus.
"Several people were also injured. They are currently receiving medical attention at Ngaoundere Regional Hospital," Jean-Claude Ombang Christian, one of the survivors, told Xinhua.
Last year, Cameroon's Ministry of Transport estimated that at least 1,200 people die in road accidents each year in the country.
