MACAO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Macao's newly incorporated companies totaled 5,953, up by 776 year-on-year, and the number of companies in dissolution was 813, the special administrative region's statistic service said here on Friday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that in 2018, newly incorporated companies' registered capital declined by 87.9 percent to 986 million patacas (about 122 million U.S. dollars) due to a decrease in capital in financial services. The registered capital of companies in dissolution totaled 453 million patacas (about 56 million dollars).
Analyzed by size of registered capital, there were 4,562 new companies (76.6 percent of total) registered with capital under 50,000 patacas (about 6,197 dollars) in 2018. Meanwhile, 111 new companies were registered with capital of 1 million patacas (about 123,946 dollars) or over.
At the end of 2018, total number of registered companies in Macao increased by 5,141 year-on-year to 66,186.
In the fourth quarter of 2018, a total of 1,360 new companies were incorporated in Macao, up by 134 year-on-year. Total value of registered capital fell by 53.6 percent year-on-year to 277 million patacas (about 34 million dollars) as a branch of a bank from Chinese mainland was set up in Macao in the same quarter of 2017.
Companies in dissolution totaled 208 in the fourth quarter, down by 17 year-on-year, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to 226 million patacas (about 28 million dollars).
