CHICAGO, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- A gala was held at the Drury Lane Theatre at the western suburb of Chicago Friday night to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, or the Year of the Pig.
The gala, organized by the Chinese American Association of Greater Chicago (CAAGC), featured Chinese music, Beijing opera, traditional lion dance and calligraphy show.
"The Chinese community in Chicago is quite vibrant and the Chinese culture has become an indispensable component in the diversified culture in Chicago," said Liu Jun, acting Consul General of China in Chicago.
The 3-hour-long show drew hundreds of audience to the theater.
