NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese designer Vivienne Hu on Wednesday presented her fall/winter 2019 collection, revisiting Lewis Carroll's renowned novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," at the ongoing New York Fashion Week.
"I look up to the protagonist of the novel, Alice, who is courageous and fearless," said Hu, talking about inspirations for the new collection.
The designs of the latest collection are vibrant and youthful, featuring colorful plaids and floral lace.
Among the 37 looks presented at the show, four were entirely hand-made pieces designed in collaboration with Saga Furs, one of the world's renowned fur manufacturing companies.
Also presented at the show were 32 pairs of high heels, ankle boots and thigh boots.
Hu grew up in China and obtained her bachelor's degree in finance at the University of Hohenheim, Germany. Prior to studying fashion design at Parsons School of Design in New York, she worked as a financier at a leading investment bank on Wall Street.
She quickly gained a wealth of professional experience while working with renowned fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Yigal Azrouel, before launching her namesake brand in 2012 in New York City.
Held in February and September, New York Fashion Week is one of four major fashion weeks in the world, collectively known as the "Big Four," along with the Paris, London and Milan fashion weeks.
