PARIS, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nearly one thousand spectators in the Halle Georges Carpentier were treated to the celebratory atmosphere of the Chinese Lunar New Year in a French second-tier basketball match here on Thursday.
Paris Basketball was founded in 2018. With their home court located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, the club wanted to forge a stronger presence with the city's Asian community by incorporating Lunar New Year festival-themed activities into the team's Pro B match against Quimper at home.
From pre-match Chinese songs to questions concerning the Chinese Lunar New Year and Chinese basketball on screen, Chinese festive elements were found everywhere inside the arena.
Moderators introduced Paris Basketball players' jersey numbers in both French and Chinese. The home players also wore specially designed red jerseys on the night, with Chinese name for Paris seen from the front.
Artists from the 13th arrondissement performed a lion dance and dragon dance during halftime.
Paris Basketball crushed Quimper 93-74 thanks to a dominant performance in the second half.
