KIGALI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Africa Zone Five volleyball club championship kicked off here Wednesday with the participation of 12 teams from five countries.
Burundi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Rwanda are attending the championship running from Feb. 19-24 at Kigali's Amahoro Stadium.
On the opening day, Rwanda's UTB beat Ethiopia's Wolaita 3-1, while Uganda's Nemo Stars edged Burundi's Amical 3-2.
Most of the teams take the championship as part of their preparations ahead of the main Africa Club Championships, which will be held in Cairo in April. The winner will represent Africa to compete in the World Club Championships. Enditem
